The opportunity to serve the City of Westerville and its citizens as a Support Services Coordinator in the Electric Division could be for you! This role will support various administrative work in the Electric Division with a focus on procurement and accounting. Duties include the following:

Purchase requisitions (quote obtainment, entering, monitoring), accounts payable, accounts receivable, check requests, credit card charge reconciliation, inventory processing, and verifying transactions in compliance with policies and procedures; internal and external customer service, internal and external communications, general office support, general emergency outage assistance, and data entry.

Our team cannot wait to work alongside you.  Under the general supervision of the Electric Utility Business Manager, this position is responsible maintaining purchase orders, conducting warehouse inventory, entering data for accounting-related projects, and assisting other departments when necessary.
(May not include all duties performed.)
  • Manage and create purchase requisitions and orders; thoroughly understand and communicate related policies and procedures; pre-audit and process accounts payable transactions; enter receipts; review receiving and open purchase order reports; follow up with vendors; troubleshoot invoices; key change orders, budget adjustments, and check requests.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to process monthly inventory; conduct physical inventory counting; process counts within the Division’s financial software.
  • Perform data entry and create complex spreadsheets for accounting-related projects; develop, recommend, and implement process solutions, improvements, and efficiencies.
  • Utilize personal computer and/or mobile device and related equipment to perform administrative tasks; maintain confidentiality; communicate appropriately and professionally with the public, vendors, and other City employees.
  • Participate in Citywide teams; serve as a cross-departmental resource.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.).

Note:  In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered light work.

An example of acceptable qualifications (at least one of the following):

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance; and

  • Experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, government purchasing work, program coordination, and administration preferred;

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio vehicle operator’s license and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy;

  • Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to the minimum qualifications stated above.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:  (*Indicates developed after employment)
  • KNOWLEDGE OF: generally accepted accounting principles, budgeting, purchasing, safety practices and procedures, office practices and procedures, English grammar and spelling, records management, project management, agency goals and objectives*, and agency policies and procedures. 
  • SKILL IN: word processing, basic computer operation, typing and data entry, use of modern office equipment and software, critical thinking, judgment and decision making.
  • ABILITY TO: lift up to 10 pounds occasionally, carry out instructions in written, oral, or picture form, read, copy, and record figures accurately, add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, complete routine forms, compile and prepare reports, communicate effectively, understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications, develop and maintain effective working relationships, answer routine telephone inquiries, demonstrate professionalism, and apply management principles to solve agency problems.*

Salary : $59,800 - $83,616
