EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Under the direction of the Lead Traffic Signal Technician, the Part-Time Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for traffic signal repair and highway sign installation, maintenance, and repair. The Part-Time Traffic Signal Technician troubleshoots signal equipment problems and applies both temporary and permanent solutions to all city traffic control equipment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The Westerville Electric Division is seeking a part-time traffic technician to assist with the maintenance, repair, and installation of traffic signals and controls. The City maintains more than 60 signalized intersections, 31 school zone beacons that span three school districts, and 32 pedestrian crossing beacons. The ideal candidate has technical experience and the willingness to learn.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Completion of high school diploma or GED;
- Experience in traffic maintenance or transportation field preferred;
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio vehicle operator’s license and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy;
- Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to the minimum qualifications stated above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- KNOWLEDGE OF: electrical codes, safety practices and procedures, state and federal guidelines, principles, and practiced related to uniform traffic control devices, occupational hazards, signal coordination, traffic signal and sign maintenance and installation, traffic sign design and development, basic traffic statistical survey methods and procedures, basic electricity, agency goals and objectives*, agency policies and procedures.*
- SKILL IN: word processing, basic computer operation, electronics, motor vehicle operation, use of modern office equipment and software, critical thinking, judgment and decision making.
- ABILITY TO: conduct or participate in traffic data surveys, climb into and work from aerial bucket in repairing traffic devices, ensure compliance with related safety standards, voltage testers and meters, deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context, prepare routine correspondence, compile and prepare reports, communicate effectively, comprehend simple sentences with common vocabulary, develop and maintain effective working relationships, travel to and gain access to work site, demonstrate professionalism, apply management principles to solve agency problems.*
