City of West Point, Nebraska
The City of West Point, NE (population ~3,500), a progressive Cuming County seat located approximately 45 minutes southeast of Norfolk and 60 minutes north of Omaha, is seeking a qualified, hands-on Superintendent of Utilities.
Position Summary
The Superintendent of Utilities oversees the daily construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of critical city infrastructure, including:
- Electric Generation, Transmission, and Distribution Systems.
- Water Treatment Plant and Distribution.
- Sewer Treatment Plant and Line Maintenance.
- Streets and Miscellaneous Departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and manage workflow for utility department personnel.
- Manage operational budgets and procurement.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations; file mandatory state and federal reports.
- Coordinate with City Administration on capital improvement projects.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in utility construction, maintenance, and operation (electric experience strongly preferred).
- Supervision: Demonstrated experience in personnel management and time management.
- Licensing: Must hold or have the ability to obtain necessary state licenses/certificates for Water and Sewer operations.
- Residency: Must live within 15 minutes of the municipality.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: Based on experience and qualifications.
- Compensation: Paid bi-weekly.
