Pay Range: Operator I: $21.05 - $30.04
Operator II: $23.25 - $33.15

Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, 6:30am -- 5:00pm Monday -- Thursday.
Summary
Under immediate supervision, responsible for performing a variety of apprentice level duties involved in the operation, maintenance, and repair of utility collection systems, equipment, and facilities.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.
Essential Duties
Employee will be assigned to work in one of the two sections of the Wastewater Division and will work generally within that section to construct, repair, operate, or maintain the various aspects assigned. However, employees may
assist other units within the Wastewater Division and other Public Utilities divisions as the needs arise.

Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. Exposure to outdoor environments including various harsh weather conditions, noise, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, dust, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards. Ability to travel to different sites and locations. Availability for on-call, stand-by, and emergency call duties.

Operations and Maintenance
- Test, maintain, inspect, address issues limited to maintenance practices.
- Emergency call-out or overtime operations restorative work, working in various weather conditions, at various times of the day/night.
- Perform general maintenance and cleanup duties around facilities.
- Operate a variety of vehicles, tools, and equipment used in the operation and maintenance of utility distribution and collection systems.
- Operate the sewer collections system by assisting in cleaning sewer main lines with use of combination jet truck, clearing blockages with use of rodders, cutters, easement machines and other industry methods.
- Operate TV truck and related equipment to inspect sewer mains.
- Operate TV inspection software and information filing programs.
- Assist experienced operators in maintaining sewers and wastewater cleaning equipment such as a Jet truck and maintain TV inspection equipment to keep equipment in operating order by inspecting, removing,
- Perform inspections on manholes and inform lead operators of manhole imperfections, for the inspection report.
- Perform other maintenance related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Repair, and replace various utility pipes, fittings, inlets, valves, or other apparatus associated with the utility.
- Emergency call-out or overtime repair work, working in various weather conditions, at various times of the day/night.
- Assist in performing general repairs and construction duties around facilities.
- Operate a variety of vehicles, tools, and equipment used in the construction and repair of utility distribution and collection systems.
- Perform entry level construction and repair tasks. Including, replacing concrete, and asphalt.
- Assist in repairs to manhole structures, by means of safe confined space entry and proper repair techniques.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid Utah Driver's License
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a Utah commercial driver's license within 1 year of employment in the position.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain Traffic Control Flagger, Trench Shoring, and Confined Space certificates within 6 months of employment (training typically provided by City). Director may grant extension if training isn't available during 6-month period.
Experience: One year of experience performing construction related activities.
