Essential Job Functions
- Attendance, physically present to work.
- Assist with civil engineering tasks ranging from basic to moderate complexity.
- Learn drainage calculations and develop foundational engineering drawings using CAD software.
- Accompany construction inspectors during site visits and inspections.
- Support both office and field operations as needed.
- Organize and maintain as-built design documentation.
- Completion of two years toward a B.S. in Engineering or Engineering related field.
- Completed coursework in engineering and/or construction management.
- Must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
- Must have current valid Class "C" Texas Driver License and be insurable.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Some experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to support field inspections, testing coordination, and basic Q/A documentation.
- Good technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate initiative, strong work ethic, leadership potential, and effective communication.
- Requires ability to navigate construction sites and move across uneven or rough terrain.
- Involves occasional walking, standing, sitting, stooping, lifting, moving, or positioning objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Sitting and standing in front of a computer monitor for extended periods of time.
- The regular day-to-day work environment may involve typical indoor/outdoor conditions and various physical discomforts, including unpleasant odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt, and grease.
- Office conditions are sitting, standing in an air-conditioned environment while coordinating with office staff on a daily basis.
