The Groundskeeper, under direct supervision, will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the care and maintenance of park grounds, sports fields, landscaped areas, and related building facilities, as assigned. This will include assisting in the completion of best turf care practices, including overseeding, mowing, aerating, thatching, watering, fertilizing, plugging, spraying, and installation of new turf areas with both seed and sod, along with performing a wide variety of general grounds and facility maintenance work on equipment, buildings, and grounds, including raking leaves, cleaning walkways, and removing debris.

This is a part-time position, not to exceed an average of 29 hours per week.

Job Qualifications – Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.

• Prior experience preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred, or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment required.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Valid drivers license required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.

• Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, gardening methods, materials, and equipment.
• Knowledge of irrigation techniques using sprinklers, hoses, and flooding methods.
• Must have strong mechanical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely and efficiently operate motorized equipment such as push and riding mowers, utility vehicles, and golf carts.
• Ability to properly use hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, picks, shovels, spades, rakes, loppers, saws, or similar tools.
• Ability to use mops, brooms, paintbrushes, and rollers and work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, paints, cleaning agents, or similar solutions using normal protective equipment.
• Ability to judge distances accurately and to read and interpret maps, manuals, and schematics.
• Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing, and in person.
• Ability to use good judgment and think rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
• Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work, as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work under direct supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and systems to accomplish tasks.
• Basic knowledge in the use of general computer programs and applications, including email and mobile apps.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to safely drive vehicles used to transport materials, tools, and equipment
• Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty. Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable.
