# SANITATION COLLECTOR

Department: SANITATION

Pay Rate:Pay Range \$17.29 to \$22.23 DOQ

Location: WELLINGTON, KS 67152

Status:Open

## Position Summary

Performs routine manual work involving refuse collection, cleaning and

maintaining of City grounds, vehicle and facilities; does related work

as required. Work is performed under general supervision due to work

being routine and repetitive in nature.

## Essential Functions

• Collects and loads refuse onto packer trucks;
• Performs minor building and equipment cleaning and maintenance;
• Maintains grounds around equipment storage building.
  
  

## Marginal Functions

• Cooperates with public on collection routes and the work sites;
• Performs related work as required.
  
  

## Position Requirements

Experience: Prior experience is not required. Employee is expected to

have acquired the necessary skills to perform the job reasonably well

after six months in the position.\

\

Education/Licenses: High school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.

Anticipate applicant to acquire Commercial Drivers License within 6

months for consideration as Driver/Collector. (at pay range (\$16.48 to

\$22.95)\

\

Technical Skills: The ability to receive and follow oral and written

instructions. The ability to learn safety procedures and requirements

and ability to service and perform minor maintenance and repairs to

equipment. Ability to learn the routes and use of equipment; ability to

learn and follow safety rules and regulations.\

\

Problem Solving: Problem solving is not required.\

\

Decision-Making: Decision making is limited to interpersonal contacts

with customers and other crew members.\

\

Supervision: Provides limited direction for seasonal employees.\

\

Accountability: Not responsible for financial matters.\

\

Personal Relations: Frequent contact with the general public, co-workers

and supervisor.\

\

Working Conditions: Manual labor. All types of weather conditions,

equipment and noise, hazardous chemicals and materials and noxious

odors.\

\

Physical Requirements: Heavy manual labor is required, lifting items

weighing as much as 100 pounds into a packer unit. The ability to

perform extensive walking over rough terrain. Requires much physical

activity such as lifting, bending and stooping.

## Salary Range

SALARY RANGE IS \$17.49 to \$22.23 DOQ, WITH BENEFITS, EOE, DRUG FREE

WORKPLACE.
