What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Inspector II position at City of Weirton?
The City of Weirton is accepting resumes for the position of Building Inspector II within the Inspections Department. This position is responsible for City-wide inspections to assure compliance with the State of West Virginia and City of Weirton Building and Property Maintenance Code, as well as inspection and enforcement of the City of Weirton’s Codified Ordinances. This position is full-time employment with steady hours and generous benefits, including health insurance and enrollment in the West Virginia Public Employees’ Retirement system.
Construction experience, an electrical license, a plumbing license, and/or a HVAC license is preferred.
- Applicant must be able to work independently, effectively, and efficiently.
- Construction experience and/or public/private inspections experience preferred, but not required.
- An Electrical License, Plumbing license, and/or HVAC license is highly desired.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to drive City vehicles and be insured by the City insurance company.
- Must pass a physical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
- Employee must have the mobility to visit job sites within the City on a regular basis. Must be able to often lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Applicant must successfully become a Licensed Inspector under the WV State Fire Marshal’s Office as required by the City of Weirton.
- Building Inspector II employees must pass four (4) ICC exams by specified times during the first two years of their employment.
The starting salary for this position depends on the successful applicant's experience.
