Job Announcement:
The City of Webster Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Driver/ Operator. Webster is located on the south side of Houston, Texas with a population of approximately 12,000 permanent residents. While this number may seem small, our community has a daily influx of people who work and shop in our city, which brings our daily population up to 150,000.
Protects life and property of citizens. Provides the safe operation of the apparatus transporting men/women and equipment to the scene of fires and other emergencies. Maintains proper water supply for fire hoses and maintains equipment assigned to them. Medical first responder.
Knowledge of fire behavior and firefighting techniques. Knowledge of the geographical layout of the city. Ability to stay calm under pressure. Ability to operate fire apparatus, tools, and equipment. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public.
Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required remain on the job.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A valid Texas Class B (Exempt) Driver's License
- TCFP Structure Fire Protection- Basic
- TDHS EMT- Basic
- TCFP Driver/Operator Pumper
- TCFP Aerial/Operator
- A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Driver/Operator
- Must obtain (TDHS) Emergency Medical Technician – Advanced certification within 1 year of hire date.
- TCFP Fire Officer I (preferred)
- TCFP Instructor I (preferred)
- TDHS Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic (preferred)
This is an Essential Services position, and the employee will be required to provide services in the course and scope of employment for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Webster's citizens per the City's Emergency Services Guidelines.
