Information Technology (IT) Specialist
The City of Webster City is seeking a knowledgeable, customer-focused Information Technology (IT) Specialist to join our team.
As our IT Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining the technology infrastructure that supports essential public services. From City Hall and public safety to utilities and parks, you'll help ensure our employees have the tools and support they need to serve our community effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to staff for desktop, laptop, mobile devices, printers, and software applications.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
- Administer and support Microsoft Windows operating systems, Google Workspace, Active Directory, and other enterprise applications.
- Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and internet connectivity.
- Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, including user training, endpoint protection, system updates, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
- Maintain user accounts, permissions, and security protocols.
- Coordinate with software vendors and outside technology consultants.
- Document IT procedures, inventory, and system configurations.
- Develop and maintain IT budget
- Assist with technology planning, equipment replacement, and special projects.
- Provide after-hours support for critical system outages as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting Windows-based environments.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, cybersecurity best practices, and server administration.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while providing exceptional support to users.
- Valid driver's license.
- A dependable problem solver.
- A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

- Able to communicate technical information in a way that non-technical users can understand.
