The City of Waukesha is seeking a full-time, on-site Associate Planner to join our team in Waukesha, WI. The Associate Planner will play a key role in managing and supporting the city’s planning initiatives. Core responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting zoning codes and ordinances, preparing and presenting planning reports, conducting land use reviews, engaging in community development projects, and collaborating with various departments to ensure smooth execution of urban planning activities. Active community engagement and promoting sustainable planning practices are foundational aspects of this role.
- Knowledge and application of urban planning, zoning codes, and land use planning principles
- Strong research, data analysis, and report writing skills
- Effective communication, public speaking, and presentation abilities
- Collaboration and teamwork skills, along with experience working with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and urban planning software tools
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple planning projects simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
