The City of Waterville seeks to fill the position of Information Technologist II in the Technology Department. This is a full-time, entry level technical position.

The candidate should be familiar with multiple Windows desktop and server operating systems. Skills should include network design, configuration, support, and wiring. The candidate will provide tech support to end users. Some experience with social media management and/or website content management is preferred. The successful candidate must also be able to be on call certain nights and weekends rotationally.

The successful candidate is required to hold an Associates Degree with a major in computer science, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, and at least one year of working experience. Work experience will be considered if the applicant does not possess a degree. Successful candidate must also possess a valid driver’s license, as well as reliable transportation, as there is a requirement to provide IT support at other facilities.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

This position provides entry level support for the City’s information services infrastructure. This infrastructure includes hardware, data and software architectures. It requires the ability to manage many different issues and problems using knowledge and poise.

Location: the position is located in an office in the City Hall building. Also required to travel to other locations to provide hands-on technical support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· On-call rotation system providing 24/7 support; will be provided with a cell phone.

Day-to-Day Operations

· Perform general email troubleshooting

· Perform general network related troubleshooting

· Perform in depth and general problem solving with both hardware and software issues

· Assists PC users with the use of office automation software, application programs and network functions

· Build and image PC’s

· Provide technical support to end users of Microsoft office suites

· Provide hardware, network, and desktop troubleshooting

· Provide support for Microsoft desktop operating systems

· Responsible for maintaining up to date computer environment

· Provide end user support for analog, digital and VoIP telephones.

System Architecture Operations

· Installs and configures personal computers and office automation products as the need arises.

· Apply operating system software upgrades as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to install and optimize software and operating systems
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot computer system problems
  • Ability to interact and communicate with non-technical users of computer systems are essential.
  • Must possess the ability to learn new software.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.10 - $37.92 per hour
