Under general supervision, this service position operates and maintains light and heavy equipment and hand tools to perform general labor required in the maintenance of City parks, streets, public utilities, public infrastructure, and public facilities. In addition, the Maintenance Worker will be responsible for adhering to maintenance and safety standards that provide a comfortable environment for the public.
This position is expected to work ten (10) hour days, two (2) days per week.The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

- Performs basic street and sewer maintenance practices.
- Operates and performs routine maintenance on motorized equipment, including light and heavy maintenance equipment, dump trucks, streets sweepers, front end loaders, skid loaders, trucks, and tractors.
- Performs various maintenance functions such as bituminous paving, street sweeping, sewer cleaning/televising, pothole patching, concrete repair, excavation, street sign repair and replacement, mowing, and all other Public Works maintenance as assigned.
- Follows proper safety and operating precautions in all areas of work to avoid personal time and/or property loss accidents. Uses proper safety equipment and operates equipment in a safe manner.
- Cooperates with contractors, co-workers, and other department heads.
- Follows directions and performs duties to the satisfaction of Public Works staff and the general public.
- Assists full-time employees with projects and general tasks as assigned.

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED certificate required (unless 18 years old and enrolled in high school).
- 18 years of age or older.
- Experience with light and heavy equipment operation
Trainings, Certificates, and Licenses
- Possess a Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver’s License
