The City of Waite Park is accepting applications for the Public Works Technician position. This position is part of our Public Works Department, which maintains the Citys, streets, snow and ice removal, parks, trails, animal control, street signs, water, storm sewer and sewer systems and city facilities.
Our Public Works Technicians operate a variety of equipment such as commercial trucks, front end loaders, plows, skid loaders, Vactor/jetter, and street sweepers. Also operates a variety of hand tools and small equipment to perform tasks. This position is part of the team that maintains and repairs buildings, park and park facilities, which includes electrical, plumbing, HVAC and all other building and facility operational components, maintains and repairs streets, drainage, storm and sanitary sewer systems, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, signs and city owned lighting systems. This position will also work with hazardous chemicals and solvents.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and minimal experience performing maintenance work of buildings, vehicles, metal working, landscaping (irrigation, chemical spraying, fertilizing and pesticide applications), along with computer knowledge and experience. Preferred candidates will possess proficient experience in bituminous maintenance, concrete installation, heavy equipment operation, snow removal, tree removal, along with farm experience. Applicants must also possess a Class B or higher commercial drivers license with air brakes and tanker endorsement valid in Minnesota.
