About the Position:
The City of Waite Park is seeking a qualified and motivated IT Network Specialist to join our team. This newly created role will be responsible for providing comprehensive technology support across all City departmentsincluding Administration, Public Works, Police, and Fire.
As the IT Network Specialist, youll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the Citys technology infrastructure. From everyday tech troubleshooting to complex network security, youll ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of all electronic and communication systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day technical support for City staff and departments on computers, phones, printers, servers, scanners, copiers, tablets, voicemail, cable broadcast, A/V systems, and surveillance systems.
- Manage, secure, and monitor the City's IT infrastructure including internet services, LAN, Wi-Fi, phone systems, firewalls, and cabling.
- Maintain system updates, user account management, and access control.
- Oversee cybersecurity compliance and reporting, conduct staff training, and ensure systems meet relevant security standards.
- Stay up-to-date with technology trends and emerging needs.
- Serve as the primary liaison for third-party hardware and software vendors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 35 years of professional experience in IT support, network administration, or a closely related field.
- Proficient in Windows operating systems, networking concepts, cybersecurity principles, and end-user support.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, multi-departmental environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft systems and network administration.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networks and SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with audiovisual (AV) equipment and public sector software such as RMS/CAD, permitting, or finance platforms.
- Prior experience in municipal government or public safety environments.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA (A , Network ), Microsoft (MCSA, MSCE), or Cisco (CCNA).
