Serves in a critical role in creating dialogue, information sharing, partnership, and action with neighborhood residents, leaders & organizations to improve the quality of life for the residents of the City of Waco.DUTIES OF THE POSITION: •Acts as a liaison between neighborhood organizations and city departments to establish positive working relationships with neighborhood associations.• Acts as a point of contact for community members who have questions about city programs and services and for city staff working on a project that will impact a neighborhood.• Cultivates and coordinates ongoing relationships between the City and neighborhood groups.• Meets with neighborhood residents, leaders, and community groups to identify issues and facilitate resolution.• Maintains a database of neighborhood associations, community organizations, HOAs, and contact persons.• Regularly attends neighborhood association meetings and events on behalf of the city, including after-hours and weekends.• Understands city services to provide information to the neighborhood associations.• This position partners with, and sometimes leads, other city staff working to address a variety of community needs and, issues and concerns as they arise.• Develops assessment tools and systems to track the impact of ongoing neighborhood engagement activities; and creates and distributes the weekly e-newsletter from Neighborhood Engagement• Conducts work supporting the city operations, including ensuring all assigned training is completed, following policies and procedures, and assisting in maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.• Keeps management apprised of neighborhood issues, activities, and events.• Serves as a representative of the Office of Neighborhood Engagement to other departments, elected officials, outside agencies, and neighborhood associations.• Assists in monitoring social media and providing information to city social media formats.• Assists in implementing the department’s work plan and organizing and running the Waco City Academy.• Assists in coordinating and administering programs and the Office of Neighborhood Engagement activities.• Assists in providing for the delivery of a comprehensive neighborhood engagement strategy to raise awareness about the City and to develop engagement and partnership pathways for community stakeholders that align with the City’s mission and vision.• Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.• May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
