Required
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 5 years of experience with water and wastewater infrastructure construction and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Class C Water and Class II Wastewater license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required upon hire.
- Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement required within 180 days of employment.
- M ay be required to become certified for the Respiratory Protection and Confined-Space Entry Program and maintain certification.
Under general supervision, plans, schedules, and supervises the daily operations of the maintenance and repair work crews for the Public Works Department.
Essential Functions
- Plans, schedules, and supervises projects for the repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems (W/WW); assigns staff, vehicles, and equipment; estimates materials required for assignments and stages materials and equipment; inspects work projects for compliance to quality standards and safety regulations; prioritizes work orders and prepares activity and summary reports.
- Supervises staff, assigns duties and responsibilities, and meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload, technical, and safety issues; assists with project and operational budgets.
- Supervises the training of W/WW staff and ensures appropriate safety protocols are followed.
- Completes paperwork, forms, and reports as necessary.
- Required to respond after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
- May be required to work in trenches and in a confined space to oversee maintenance tasks.
- Driving is essential.
