Job Summary
Under basic supervision, provides experienced care for animals in the City Animal Shelter.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 year of customer service and/or animal care
- Euthanasia Technician certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services is required within 180 Days.
Essential Functions:
- Cleans Animal Shelter daily, including feeding, watering, and grooming animals; monitors animals for illness and disease and provides medications.
- Provides customer assistance; maintains and updates files and assists with reports and computer entry.
- Euthanizes animals and process animal carcasses.
- May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
- Operates a City vehicle to retrieve warehouse items and transport pets to adoption events or other assigned locations.
- Impounds owner surrenders, strays, and seized animals, entering their information into the shelter management software.
