Position
Recreation Office Assistant
Under the direction of the Office Specialist, Recreation Coordinator, and Recreation Operations Manager, the Office Assistant is responsible for assisting in daily office tasks and special projects for the Recreation/Vistix office and facility rentals.
Examples of Essential Functions
- Monitor email, phone line, and reception area for Vistix office
- Assist with rental scheduling oversight
- Program registration intake
- Stock supplies
- Scanning and filing of facility rental forms
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Review rental reports and submit supply and service requests as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, or be currently enrolled in an educational institution, working toward obtaining a diploma or G.E.D.
EXPEREINCE
Previous administrative and customer service experience preferred. Any combination of training and experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above, and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of general office procedures. Familiarity with computers; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook mandatory
- Possession of basic math skills
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions well
- Ability to complete projects in a timely manner and reach deadlines
- Ability to work cooperatively with the public and fellow employees, in an enthusiastic and constructive manner
- Ability to maintain personal cleanliness and neatness of appearance
- Ability to engage in slight physical labor when needed for a special project

SCHEDULE AT A GLANCE
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts, depending on program needs.
SELECTION PROCESS:
All properly completed applications will be reviewed, and the most qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the selection process. A pre-employment drug test and live scan fingerprint (background check), paid by the city, will be required.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION
The City provides Workers' Compensation Insurance to all employees.
RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTION
Employee is required to contribute 7.5% of gross earnings to the MissionSquare Retirement Plan, which is offered in lieu of Social Security, OR Current CalPERS members will be required to contribute the full employee contribution of 8%.
