THE DIVISION
The Operations Support Division of the Police Department consists of the Investigations Bureau, Support Services Bureau, and Professional Standards Bureau. The Records Specialist is part of the Records/Court Services Unit which operates within the Support Services Bureau.
A Police Records Specialist works with the Records Supervisor & Lead Records Specialist. They are responsible for performing department functions in relation to the maintenance, security, and confidentiality of police records in accordance with State laws and Department policies. The Police Records Specialist will assist with preparing, retrieving, and maintaining a variety of police related documents, and assisting Court Services. This is a high-volume position that requires the ability to multitask and ensure quality and compliance in order to meet urgent daily deadlines. As an Emergency Services employee, the applicant must be available to work shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays and type a minimum of 50 corrected wpm.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate professionalism, possess customer conflict resolution skills, and writing skills, as well as be competent with computers and related software. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, ability to multitask, prioritize, and interpret laws relating to the processing, maintenance, and release of police information.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skill and ability is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill and abilities would be:

- One (1) year responsible clerical experience including experience in records maintenance.
- Type a minimum of 50 corrected wpm. A typing certificate dated within one year must be submitted with the application.
