The City of Virginia Beach Development Services Center (DSC) with the Department of Planning and Community Development is seeking an Engineering Technician I/II to join our team. The DSC reviews and approves all site development plans for the City of Virginia Beach. Actual job level (e.g. Engineering Technician I or II) will be determined on the qualifications of the selected applicant and made part of the job offer. The associated pay grades and ranges are as follows:
Engineering Tech I: G.22 $49,254.40 - $76,336.00
Engineering Tech II: G.24 $54,288.00 - $84,156.80
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Completing assigned project tasks and assisting engineering staff, to include:
- Data processing (tracking project and citizen request information)
- Single family site plan review
- DEQ permit coordination
- Stormwater management facility as-built review
- Review construction cost estimates
- Site research
- Assist customers in a professional manner in person, by phone and email
- Perform site visits to trouble-shoot, compare plans with field conditions, and help resolve construction issues
- Participate in project coordination and staff team meetings
- Preparing written comments explaining required revisions; approving portions of development plans and associated engineering calculations and reports
