What are the responsibilities and job description for the DOCK ATTENDANT PT-PERM position at City of Vero Beach?
Under close supervision, assists marina customers, performs routine maintenance duties and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of marina facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. The following duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
- Provides customer service to marina users; registers new customers, assists vessels on and off the fuel dock, dispenses fuel and pumps sewage from vessels.
- Performs routine marina maintenance including custodial duties.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on docks, moorings, and other related maintenance as assigned. Computes user fees, processes cash and credit card transactions.
- Observes standard operating procedures and safety practices and maintains cleanliness of work area and tools.
- Knowledge of a variety of building trades procedures and techniques including occupational hazards and safety practices related to facility maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of marina policies and procedures including applicable federal, state and local waterway and fuel handling regulations.
- Knowledge of building maintenance equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of line handling, knot tying and splicing.
- Knowledge of CPR and first response emergency measures.
- Knowledge of customer service practices.
- Ability to safely operate assigned vessels, marina forklifts, power and hand tools and equipment.
- Ability to use various office equipment including personal computers and Point of Sale System.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time in all weather extremes.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work including the general public.
- Exposure to potential physical harm, dangerous machinery, infectious disease, hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy or bulky items frequently up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment required to perform essential functions of the job.
- Office equipment including POS system, calculator telephone, personal computers and two-way marine radios; gasoline and diesel pumping equipment, dewatering pumps, generators, marina skiff, marina forklifts, power saws, electrical test equipment, hammers, saws, bolt cutters, etc.
