The Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library seeks a detail-oriented, outgoing person with excellent customer service skills to assist patrons at our circulation desk and perform shelving tasks. Applicants must enjoy working with a variety of people of all ages.
- Reports to the Circulation Supervisor. Works under the immediate supervision of scheduled circulation staff.
- Schedule 1 - Friday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, for a total of 11 hours per week
- Schedule 2 - Sunday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, for a total of 9 hours per week.
- Occasional additional hours or switched days are possible if one Library Clerk is unavailable on a certain day.
- Greets visitors to the library and provides friendly, high-quality customer service to library users.
- Performs circulation duties and procedures including loaning and returning materials, placing reserves, checking in materials, shelving materials, checking for damaged materials, interlibrary loan requests.
- Accurately shelves library materials and assists with shelf-reading as needed.
- Maintains neat and orderly circulation desk.
- Assists patrons in the use of library services and facilities.
- Assists patrons signing up for new library cards.
- Responds to general questions and answers the telephone.
- Operates Library equipment and technology: fax machine, copier, printer, scanner, and Windows computers.
- Replenishes supplies at the Circulation Desk as needed.
- Helps maintain a clean, organized, and comfortable atmosphere which may include dusting, wiping down, and cleaning tasks as needed.
- Performs other tasks, duties, and projects as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following.
- Must be 16-years-old or older.
- Library experience and/or customer service experience helpful.

- Experience operating standard office and library equipment such as audiovisual equipment, printers, copier, fax machine, and computers.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to follow the policies and procedures of the Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library
