The City of Valparaiso, located in Northwest Indiana just southeast of Chicago and minutes from the scenic Indiana Dunes National Park, is seeking a Venue Director-Golf for the Parks and Recreation Department. This position provides leadership and oversight for year-round golf operations at Creekside Golf Course and Training Center and Forest Park Golf Course.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Venue Director works collaboratively with Parks and Recreation personnel and other City of Valparaiso departments to develop and implement operations, events, and strategies that enhance guest satisfaction, strengthen community relationships, increase revenue, and support the continued growth and development of the Valpo Parks golf division.

Qualifications Include:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and a demonstrated safe driving record.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or four or more (4 ) years of experience in golf operations, events, and facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply principles and practices of facility management, event management, and golf operations.
  • Must have SafeServ certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Available to regularly work in the evening, extended, and weekend hours and occasionally work holidays.
  • Meets all employer and department hiring requirements, including passage of a criminal background check, drug test, and essential function screening.

Position Expectations Include:

  • Develops longrange strategies and business plans to ensure the continued growth and development of the Valpo Parks golf division.
  • Oversees daytoday operations at Forest Park Golf Course and Creekside Golf Course & Training Center, ensuring optimal performance and guest satisfaction.
  • Orders and tracks inventory for concessions and merchandise.
  • Manages venue budgets, financial performance, and revenue generation.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with donors, clients, partners, and vendors.
  • Leads, supervises, and develops a highperforming team of parttime staff.
  • Creates and executes event plans, including coordination of staff, equipment, and vendors.
  • Plans fundraisers and special events.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors industry trends and best practices to enhance venue offerings.
  • Develops and implements marketing and sales strategies to maximize venue utilization.
  • Analyzes venue performance metrics and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Uses standard office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office and social media, and operates equipment necessary to support venue operations.
  • Plans and prioritizes multiple projects and tasks while working independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Compensation:

The City of Valparaiso provides a competitive salary structure. Compensation for this position is /- $65,372/annually and will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and education. This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week.
