Warehouse Technician

This position performs technical duties in support of the management of the department's parts, equipment and supply inventory.

• Maintains inventory records.
• Orders parts and supplies as needed; prepares purchase requisitions.
• Issues parts and supplies to department personnel.
• Researches vendor prices and availability.
• Performs annual inventories.
• Inspects shipments to ensure proper item, quality and volume; matches deliveries with invoices
• Coordinates the maintenance of warehouse facilities.
• Receives surplus assets for sale by the city.
• Operates a forklift to load and unload equipment, supplies and materials.
• Performs related duties.

• Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.
• Knowledge of department purchasing policies.
• Knowledge of forklift operation principles.
• Knowledge of inventory management software and hardware.
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
• Skill in managing files and records.
• Skill in operation of a forklift.
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
