What are the responsibilities and job description for the Winter Day Camp Leader position at City of Upper Arlington?
The City of Upper Arlington operates a custodial Winter Break Day Camp program for ages 6-12. Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and Day Camp Director, Camp Leaders are responsible for the daily supervision, safety, engagement and well-being of day camp participants each day throughout the Winter Break. Day Camp Leaders must follow all Camp and City policies and directives. This is a seasonal position.

1. Active participation and engagement with participants during games, field trips and both active and passive play.
2. Supervision and safety of camp participants.
3. Serves as a role model for campers.
4. Assists campers in building self-esteem, independence and confidence.
5. Demonstrates enthusiasm and positive energy for camp as a whole.
6. Demonstrates regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
7. Additional duties may be assigned as warranted.1. Completion of three years of high school or equivalent life experience (recreation, education, childcare or a closely related field preferred) preferred (minimum age is 17 years old at time of hire).
2. Ability to follow direction and work under direct supervision.
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Ability and experience to lead, engage and supervise campers.
5. General interest in recreation play and programming.
6. Must possess the ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to: running, jumping, skating, sustained walking, swimming, and similar physical activities as directed.
7. Must possess the ability to remain outdoors for a sustained period of time throughout the day and over the course of the summer.
8. Must possess the knowledge, experience and/or educational background suited to the requirements of the position, including ambition, initative, outstanding communicative skills, organixational skills and a general interest in children.1. The City of Upper Arlington will determine the hourly rate for Camp Leaders annually.
2. All Camp Leaders must complete an annual drug and background screening.
