What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Services Technician/ Electronics position at City of University Park?
The Equipment Services Technician diagnosis and repairs cars, trucks, construction equipment, lawn maintenance equipment, and related components. The technician has a large scope of work including small gas-powered equipment, large diesel-powered equipment, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair gasoline-powered equipment, diesel-powered equipment, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- Uses scan tools and laptop computers to evaluate equipment systems and failure codes
- Performs preventative maintenance on fleet equipment
- Enters data into the fleet maintenance software program related to repairs
- Maintains shop equipment and tools
- Installs and repairs public safety equipment lights, sirens, radios, etc.
- Graduation from an accredited automotive, heavy equipment, or heavy truck training program and five (5) five years of current work experience. Ten (10) years of verifiable current on the job experience may be substituted for an applicant with no accredited training program graduation.
- Ability to use scan tools to diagnose problems.
- Ability to operate computers and enter data on computers.
- Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within the first six (6) months of employment. Allowing test driving equipment and transporting equipment to dealers for warranty repairs.
