What are the responsibilities and job description for the Treatment Plant Operator II/III Wastewater position at City of Tyler?
- Operate and maintain plant equipment and plant processes.
- Perform physical chemical analysis to monitor and adjust plant processes accordingly.
- Interpret lab analysis on collected samples.
- Monitor charts, meters, recorders, equipment, and make adjustments accordingly.
- Report equipment malfunctions and irregularities in operations.
- Record and evaluate plant operations, logs and charts.
- Inspect/clean/repair pumps, motors, aerators, digesters, clarifiers, lift stations, and other equipment
- Operate plant equipment and treatment processes.
- Work requires being onsite.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Comprehend technical manuals and construction plans.
- Operate a personal computer.
- Order parts, supplies, etc.
- Communicate with staff and the public.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Possess knowledge of mechanical principles and troubleshoot electrical failures.
- Possess the skill to troubleshoot plant processes and act accordingly.
- Possess knowledge of the principles of safety involving use of power tools, electrical equipment, and hazardous materials.
- Possess ability to operate power equipment/tools.
- Must have the ability to perform lab analysis on collected samples.
- Must have good speech, eyesight, hearing, balance, finger movement and be able to grasp objects.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb up to 8 hours daily; benand stoop 6-8-hours daily, sit, crawl, kneel; twist and turn up to 1 hour daily; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs; frequentlypush and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, in confined spaces, and heights.
- Must be able to work any shift assigned including days, evenings, nights, swing, rotating, on-call/as needed.
For Treatment Plant Operator II with Class "C" Wastewater Certification: Must currently have a valid Class "C" Wastewater License as issued by TCEQ
Pay Grade 12 ($24.0399/hr.)
For Treatment Plant Operator III with Class "B" Wastewater Certification: Must currently have a valid Class "B" Wastewater License as issued by TCEQ.
Pay Grade 13 ($25.2418/hr.)
The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.
