Job Description CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY: Supervises persons performing court-ordered community service. The principal duties are performed in an office and outdoor environment that may include working in adverse weather conditions. The work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Probation Officer. Duties / Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (illustrative only and may vary by assignment) Supervises individuals and crews of persons fulfilling community service obligations ordered by a court; Maintains logs and schedules of persons in the community service program including work obligations performed, missed, and completed; Checks in clients on assigned service days; Reviews work record, schedule, and fees with clients; Performs physical security check on clients for weapons and contraband items; Transports clients to and from work site; issues tools and equipment; supervises work for safety, quality, and completion; and ensures all tools and equipment are returned at end of shift; Enters reports and logs into centralized computer tracking system; Maintains records of clients failing to appear for fee assessment and court affidavit of violation; Responds to Commissioners\', elected officials\', County employees\' and citizens\' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner; Performs time management and scheduling functions, meets deadlines, and sets project priorities; Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate co-workers to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
Maintains strict confidentiality in all cases; Assists other department and County employees as needed or requested. Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, procedures, and safety practices. Knowledge of: Basic criminal court practices, terminology, and procedures applicable to performance of community service; Departmental programs, policies, procedures, and operations as applied to the work performed; Supervisory and security methods, procedures, and objectives applicable to the community service program; File and information management methods and procedures; Operation of standard office equipment, including a personal computer; County policies regarding safe work practices.
