Responsibilities

- Teach swim technique, strokes, and water safety rules to students of varied ages and abilities.
- Assess students' progress and provide feedback.
- Adapt lesson plans according to students' needs and goals.
- Ability to work as a part of a team to perform tasks and to effectively respond in an emergency.
- Effectively communicate with staff and participants.
- Develop and improve your own skills and knowledge as a swim instructor.
- Ability to listen to and implement feedback.
- $16/hour for Public Lessons
- $20/hour for Private Lessons
- Non-Summer: 4-12 hours of lessons per week (additional hours as lifeguard available)
- A minimum of 16 years of age
- Previous competitive, lifeguarding, or instructional swim experience
- Ability to pass a pre-swim instructor training swim test
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Pre-employment Red Cross Water Safety Instructor training and certification provided at no cost.
