The Streets & Drains Division ensures a safe environment for Troy residents and guests through the maintenance of the local, county, and major road network, and the storm water drainage system of the City of Troy.

 

The Water & Sewer Division is dedicated to serving residents of the City of Troy by ensuring that the quality of the drinking water is above all standards and that water needed to fight fires is never compromised. They are also dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient discharge of wastewater to the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) waste treatment facility.

 

DUTIES

·       STREETS & DRAINS – Trim weeds and tall grass at overpasses, bridges, and retention ponds; assist full-time employees with tasks related to division activities in street, drain, and sign maintenance; and perform other duties as assigned.

·       WATER & SEWER – Rake; shovel; lay sod; trim weeds; paint and maintain fire hydrants; clean vehicle storage area; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

·       Be at least 18 years of age and possess High School diploma (or GED equivalent) on first day of employment.

·       Must possess a valid Michigan driver license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards).

·       As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana).

·       Must wear regular steel-toe or composite-toe boots starting on first day of work.

 

EVALUATION PROCESS

·       Consists of a recorded video interview.

 

BONUS OPPORTUNITIES

Hired employees are eligible for a BONUS at the end of the 2025 season as stated below:

·       If the employee has a satisfactory performance evaluation and worked 440-999 hours, they will receive a bonus of $0.25 per hour.

·       If the employee has a satisfactory performance evaluation and worked 1000 hours or more, they will receive a bonus of $0.50 per hour.

 

Additionally, bonuses are awarded for referring a new Summer Laborer/Seasonal Supervisor who works a minimum number of hours for the season:

·       $100 for a referral who works between 320 hours to 799 hours in the 2025 season.

·       $200 for a referral who works 800 hours or more during the 2025 season

HOURS

Forty (40) hours per week

Monday – Friday; 6:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

*Season will end on October 31, 2026
