CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER

The Thomaston Police Department is seeking motivated and dedicated Georgia P.O.S.T.-certified law enforcement officers to join our team. Certified Police Officers perform a wide range of public safety duties, including patrol operations, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, community engagement, and emergency response.
Responsibilities include:
- Responding to calls for service
- Enforcing local and state laws
- Conducting criminal and traffic investigations
- Preparing reports and case files
- Making arrests
- Testifying in court as needed
- Working collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies
Officers may also have opportunities to serve in specialized assignments, including Criminal Investigations, K-9, Traffic Enforcement, Narcotics and other specialized units.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Georgia P.O.S.T. Basic Peace Officer Certification (or ability to obtain certification through reciprocity)
- Valid Georgia driver's license or ability to obtain one
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be a U.S citizen
- Ability to successfully pass; a Physical Agility Test (PAT), an extensive background investigation, and all other pre-employment requirements
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Starting Salary Range:
$55,436 to $62,900 (based on experience, training and education)
