GENERAL PURPOSE
Assumes responsibility for the operation of light duty maintenance and construction equipment on parks construction, maintenance and demolition projects.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the close supervision of the Field Crew Leader and Sports and League Manager.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.
SAFETY SENSITIVE DESIGNATION
This position is designed as a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug screening.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Presence in the workplace on a regular basis is required to accomplish the essential functions, regular attendance MUST be maintained.
Operates a farm-type tractor with an attached grader blade in grading for landscaping, grading, or with a bush-hog attachment or slope mower attachment.
Operate paint striper used in painting ball fields and parking lots.
Makes routine repairs and adjustments on equipment used; regularly services equipment, reports repairs needed.
Operates lawn mowers, weedeaters, and blowers for purposes of cleaning City parks
Pickup trash/debris and clean up City parks
Perform storm cleanup of trees, limbs, etc.
Inclement weather preparations.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Performs all other functions as assigned by the Field Crew Leader and Sports and League Manager.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- One (1) year experience in the safe and efficient operation of lawn mowers and weedeaters
- One (1) year experience in the operation of a light duty truck or related automotive type equipment
- Some experience in the operation of the various types of equipment with a minimum of six (6) months to two (2) years experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
(b) Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment.
(c) Ability to maintain effective preventive maintenance programs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
(d) Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to work independently in the performance of routine duties.
(e) Some knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing the transportation of equipment and its operation.
(f) Ability to perform strenuous manual labor.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Dump truck, pick-up, tractors, mowers; miscellaneous hand tools for miscellaneous equipment, small engine repair, electrical, and cement finishing work; pumps, filtration devices, gauges, etc. and all welding and soldering equipment, including electric arc and oxyacetylene.
