Summary

Work under the direct supervision of a licensed operator. Must be available to work flexible hours at 24-hour facility to include weekends and holidays.

Assists with operating, monitoring, controlling, testing, and troubleshooting water supply, treatment plant, distribution system and storage facilities. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops basic knowledge and skills for the essential operations of the water treatment plant and facilities, including both conventional and membrane treatment, in accordance with State and Federal regulations
- Operates and monitors treatment process using Supervisory Controller & Data Acquisition (SCADA); adjusts chemicals and treatment equipment in accordance with regulatory permits
- Performs laboratory duties, maintains instruments, monitors quality control, collects samples, conducts analyses, and prepares samples for transport
- Enters sample analysis into daily log and ensures accuracy of all records/reports on their shift
- Meets daily with supervisor and reports performance of the entire system
- Completes the required courses and on-the-job training needed for the ‘D’ Water License
- Assists with TCEQ inspections, construction, and maintenance projects
- Works in confined space and works around hazardous chemicals
- Operates heavy equipment for facility maintenance including lift and boom trucks
- Assists with sludge removal, transferring and disposal
- Performs preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and tanks; cleans and services all areas throughout the plant
- Calibrates and performs maintenance on mechanical, analytical, instrumentation and telemetry equipment
- Develops the knowledge and ability to solve problems under normal and stressful conditions
- Attends TWUA monthly trainings
- Maintains certification and completes continuing educations training courses
- Follows the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain a Class “D” Water Licensing from TCEQ within 6 months of employment
