Summary

Recreation Leader II, under the supervision of a Recreation Specialist and Program Coordinator, develops and leads recreation program (camps and afterschool) sites and participants. Oversees Recreation Program Counselors, opens/closes facilities, manages money, records registration, and performs daily office tasks. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays and help in other divisions as needed
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety and well-being of campers and program participants
- Supervises children aged 5-13 in various indoor and outdoor settings, adapting to different weather conditions
- Develops, leads, and supervises at assigned recreation programs/activities. after school sites, summer camp sites, recreation centers, rental facilities, and events for participants of all ages
- Serves meals and snacks to program participants as needed
- Leads and supervises assigned Recreation Program Counselor team
- Develops and implements lesson plans for children ages 5-13 in areas of recreation, adventure, education, and enrichment
- Provides exceptional service without exception; effectively communicates with children, parents, co-workers, and other City employees
- Receives money, records registration, and membership information
- Performs facility attendant duties for recreation centers and rental facilities
- Oversees inventory and property management.
- Performs daily tasks to include cleaning, answering phones, and general office related tasks
- Maintains essential records, prepares reports as required; to include but not limited to participation reports, usage reports, accident reports, and work orders
- Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Completion of two (2) years of high school
- Equivalent of one season working in a childcare environment (one school year for Zone, one summer season for Camps)
- One (1) year experience working in a related field
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Valid driver’s license
- CPR and First aid or able to attain within 90 days
- Food handler license or able to attain within 90 days
