Summary

Responsible for container reconditioning, minor vehicle maintenance, building maintenance, grounds upkeep, litter control, shuttling vehicles to and from the garage; assisting recycling attendant, and acts as relief equipment operator

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Reconditions and steam cleans containers, prepares for repainting, repairs, assembles containers to include minor welding on metal containers
• Operates vehicle to deliver and pick up containers, levels containers in alley, sprays containers for odor control
• Cleans and removes debris from alleys, spreads sand on hydraulic oil spills on streets
• Performs minor building maintenance to include replacement of light bulbs and florescent tubes, clean light fixtures
• Performs housekeeping to include sweep, mop, dust, clean restrooms, replenish bathroom supplies, clean tables, desks, chairs and windows
• Assists in vehicle repair and maintenance (mud flaps, light bulbs, grease fittings, check fluids, etc.) shuttles vehicles to/from Fleet Services
• Separates recyclables, manages white paper route during Recycling Attendant's absence, relieves Recycling Attendant at the manned recycling center as needed
• Serves as a relief drive for Automated Route Operators: operates collection vehicle following an established route; disposes / delivers collected materials at approved locations; assist neighboring route if needed; communicates with Route Foreman by two-way radio,
• Adheres to safety policy, ensures safety equipment is operational, practices defensive driving and obeys traffic laws
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Class B Commercial Driver License
• Six months experience in a similar field
