Pay Grade: 114
Hourly Salary Range: $36.92 - $54.42
The successful candidate’s placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role. The placement shall not exceed the midpoint of the salary range, which is $45.67 per hour.

DESCRIPTION
This position supervises and coordinates the work of the staff involved in the repair and maintenance of all fire department apparatus and equipment. Provides technical input for specifications and ensures workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervises the staff and the daily operations of the Fire Fleet section, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, training and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Assists in the training of fire department personnel in proper apparatus and equipment operation.
- Performs administrative tasks such as responding to emails and answering questions from vendors and customers
- Performs maintenance and repairs on fire department apparatus and equipment as needed.
- Determines equipment, supply and material needs and submits requisitions. Makes emergency purchases as required.
- Assists with budget preparation and administration. Submit justifications for the purchase, repair and maintenance of fire department apparatus and equipment.
- Serves as the technical author of new fire department apparatus specifications.
- May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Four (4) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles or equipment or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Professional Licensure and/or Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Level I Fire Apparatus Technician certification, obtain within two (2) years of hire.
- EVT Level I Fire Ambulance Technician certification, obtain within two (2) years of hire.
- EVT Level II Fire Apparatus Technician certification, obtain within four (4) years of hire.
- EVT Level II Technician Fire Ambulance Technician certification, obtain within four (4) years of hire.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
