Hourly Salary Range:
$28.17 – $41.53

DESCRIPTION
This position enforces City codes related to nuisances, zoning, and signage through both proactive and reactive inspections, while addressing complaints and working closely with residents and property owners to ensure compliance. Responsibilities include conducting field inspections, issuing citations, and following up with corrective actions, in addition to managing research, data entry, and communication with stakeholders. Collaborates with multiple city departments to handle property-related issues and ensures adherence to landscape, lighting, and zoning regulations
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- ¿Carry out preventative enforcement and conduct field inspections; control assigned areas of the City to locate and observe violations of City Code including signs, zoning, nuisance, and health and safety violations.¿
- ¿¿Documents findings through photographs, written reports, and detailed case notes.
- ¿Issues notices of violation, citations, and orders to comply in accordance with legal and administrative procedures.
- ¿¿Provides interpretation of codes, ordinances, and regulations to staff, officials, and the public¿
- Monitors cases for progress and performs follow-up inspections to verify abatement of violations.
- Represents the City in civil court, criminal court, board and commission hearings, and public meetings related to the enforcement of City Codes
- ¿Responds to public complaints arising from the enforcement of City Codes in a timely and professional manner
- Attends community meetings, training sessions, and continuing education programs
- May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
¿¿Requires 1 year of experience¿ in inspections or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Professional Licensure and/or Certifications:
¿Valid driver’s license.
