Summary
The Transportation Incident Responder plays a critical frontline role in public safety, mobility, and emergency operations. Incumbents respond immediately to traffic incidents, hazardous road conditions, and other emergencies to support Public Safety, Traffic Management Centers (TMC), and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The responder ensures roadway safety and the efficient movement of traffic using industry-standard protocols and specialized training.
Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED, and three (3) years of experience in roadway/highway maintenance, public safety (police, fire, EMS), towing, and/or emergency response. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
Technical training in streets, utility infrastructure, or traffic control preferred.

Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview.

- Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B or higher
- Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid DOT Medical Certification Card
- ATSSA Traffic Control Technician Certification
- Hazmat First Responder Awareness
- ATSSA Flagger Certification
- NIMS IS-700 and ICS-100 Courses
- National Traffic Incident Management Responder
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
