What are the responsibilities and job description for the AQUATICS FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN position at City of Surprise, AZ?
The City of Surprise Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing exceptional parks and recreation services. In May of 2025, the City of Surprise opened a state-of-the-art aquatic center, in addition to our two established aquatic complexes, which will help to serve our quickly growing community. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and independent individual to contribute to our mission and the success of these facilities.
SUMMARY
Incumbents perform routine work in the maintenance of the City's aquatic facilities. This includes performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, monitoring and repairing the City's public pools, and public pool properties. Incumbents work evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends to support high patron use of facilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED, and two years of aquatics maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have at time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certificate is required within six months of hire and must be maintained.
Pesticide/herbicide applicator license is preferred.
