Maintenance Worker -Water Division

The City of Sunnyside currently has four (4) openings in the Water Division for a Maintenance Worker. A maintenance worker in the Water Division is responsible for performing regular and recurring installation, maintenance, and repair activities for City water systems, facilities, and grounds. Job functions are performed in cooperation with other members of the Water Division.

Essential Job Functions

• Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs water main pipes, which can include sewer lines to the meter, water well pumps, and related equipment.
• General maintenance of water division equipment, facilities, and fixtures.
• Makes service connections to the water main using special taping equipment to install valves, lateral water lines, hydrants, and meters.
• Operates motorized equipment including skid steer, bobcat, backhoe, loader, small and large dump trucks, roller, tractor and vactor trucks.
• Lays and align pipe for proper grade, completes meter hookups, tests installation in accordance with established procedures and back fills excavation.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Two (2) years previous experience in water maintenance/installation or general construction
• Water Distribution Manager (WDM) 1 Certification
• Cross Connections Specialist (CCS) Certification
• Valid Washington State Driver's License
• Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B with appropriate endorsements
• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position
