This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Sun Prairie Media Center staff with live and pre-recorded KIDS-4 video and audio productions, video and audio editing, and filming community events or later air on SPMC platforms. This position requires working with a wide variety of people, including 4th-8th graders enrolled in the KIDS-4 program, SPMC staff, SPMC member producers, and others. This position also involves filming SPASD sports/activities, assisting with in-studio productions, creation of social media and website content, and data entry. This work is performed under the direct supervision of the Sun Prairie Media Center Production Managers. 
  • Assisting with video productions, particularly KIDS-4 programming.
  • Working with KIDS-4 participants and production managers to lead KIDS-4 crew sessions.
  • Completing video editing projects as assigned.
  • Filming community events as assigned; could require evening or weekend hours.
  • Filming live sports and activities for broadcast as assigned; could require evening or weekend hours.
  • Basic troubleshooting of audio and video equipment and software programs.
  • Maintaining some databases; electronic file organization.
  • Training and assisting volunteers on the use of video and audio equipment and software as needed.
  • Creation and publishing of social media and website content as assigned.
  • Performing other related job duties as required.
Knowledge of
  • Knowledge of the general use of office equipment including computers, smartphones, and relevant software programs.
Ability to
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload; manage, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, KIDS-4 participants, KIDS-4 families, and the general public.
  • Ability to quickly learn/adapt to audio/visual equipment and related software.
Skills in

  • Skills in problem-solving.

  • Work is performed under general office conditions as well as outdoors for certain community events; hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee may be occasionally exposed to adverse weather conditions such as heat, cold, wetness and humidity.
  • Work hours may vary as attendance at community events may be required; this may require evenings, weekends and /or holidays.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
