The City of Sun Prairie is seeking a Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our newly renovated Family Aquatic Center, reopening for the 2026 season with exciting new features and amenities. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team and shape the culture of a revitalized, state-of-the-art facility that serves thousands of community members each summer. Under the supervision of the Recreation Director, the Aquatic Center Manager is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and daily operations of the Family Aquatic Center. The primary focus of this role is effectively managing a large team of seasonal staff, including lifeguards, head guards, head cashiers, cashiers, and a swim lesson coordinator. You will play a key role in fostering a positive, safe, and engaging environment for both patrons and employees. Strong leadership, excellent communication, and a hands-on management style are essential. The ideal candidate can mentor young staff, model professionalism, enforce safety policies, and respond confidently in a fast-paced, customer-facing setting. Additional responsibilities include scheduling, customer service, facility oversight, staff development, and support of swim lessons and community events. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to be part of something big, leading a brand-new chapter for the Family Aquatic Center.

Experience/Education:
- Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory or management experience, preferably overseeing a staff of at least 20 employees
- Experience working in aquatics or recreation is strongly preferred
Skills, knowledge or abilities needed:
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage high school and college-aged staff
- Confident in holding team members accountable while maintaining a supportive and approachable leadership style
- Strong decision-making and conflict-resolution skills
- Knowledge of water safety, CPR, and first aid preferred
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other basic computer systems
- Effective communicator who can establish positive relationships with staff, patrons, and other departments
- Ability to facilitate staff meetings and communicate expectations clearly
