As The Detention Officer, You Will
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the Detention Center
- Ensure the care, custody, and control of detainees. Â
- Conduct headcounts and door checks on a regular basis.Â
- Restrain detainees as needed in any confrontation with staff or other detainees.Â
- Fingerprint, photograph, and complete requires paperwork.Â
- Inspect cells visually and physically.Â
- Identify detainees requiring transport to a county facility or hospital.Â
- Prepare reports as required on activities, incidents, searches and other functions.Â
- Assist other employees with their duties.Â
- Log activities of detainees as needed/required.Â
- Notify the Detention Supervisor when criminal activity, contraband, or escape attempts are detected.
- Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.
- Stay abreast and complies with all City and departmental policies and procedures. Â Â
- Perform other job-related duties as directed by the Chief of Police or his/her designee.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in a public safety-related or customer service position.
- Municipal experience is preferred
- Relevant education or certifications may be substituted for work experience.
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Certified Jailer is preferred.
