Description
The Meter System Technician performs technical duties in support of the management of the department’s utility metering systems.
Examples of Duties
- Gathers and reviews meter data through the department’s meter reading software system.
- Identifies unread meters for re-reading and repair.
- Repairs meters and radio read antennae, and related equipment.
- Re-reads meters; inspects meters that indicate unusual or erratic readings.
- Prepares print-out of usage data to assist customers in understanding billing.
- Activates and verifies new meters and assigns customer account numbers.
- Obtains manual reads on hydrant meters and on large water and gas meters.
- Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED;
- One (1) year of experience in a related field;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License.
