GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for the overall cleanliness of City Hall to include the immediate outside area, Mall, Court and the Police Department. There are daily, weekly and every other day duties that must be completed in order to keep the building in a clean and orderly condition. The person in this position will be transferred to Public Works during the growing season where they will assist with ground duties on city owned property. The work is performed with a high degree of independence and requires prioritizing duties. Upon the end of the growing season equipment will be winterized and this position returns to City Hall.

JOB CONTEXT:
Maintenance is a full-time, permanent position in the Administration Department. The immediate supervisors for this position is the Finance Officer. The person in this position is supervised daily. The person in this position works regular hours and works overtime or at night only in the event of an emergency. There is no shift work associated with this position. Depending on duty location, work is done both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
There is exposure to chemicals and/or hazardous materials in this position such as asphalt, herbicides, dust, gasoline, diesel fuel, street paint, or vehicle exhaust on a regular basis. The stress level associated with this position is average to moderately low, varying with activities. Physical work consists of, but is not limited to, driving equipment for long periods, walking, carrying equipment over long distances, and shoveling.

- Assist in cleaning and maintaining City Facilities according to attached Housekeeper Daily Task List
- VA Building – vacuum office floor and take out the trash
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
- Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
- Report any issue or problems to immediate supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings

- The person in this position must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- The person in this position must possess a GED or a high school degree.
