This is an advanced, responsible professional position focused on analytical work in support of the City's economic development, workforce development, and business assistance initiatives. The position completes research, data analysis, program evaluation, policy support, and project management to help strengthen St. Petersburg's economy, expand employment opportunities, support business growth, and guide strategic investment decisions. This position works collaboratively with City departments, businesses, developers, educational institutions, workforce partners, neighborhood organizations, and regional agencies to analyze economic conditions, identify opportunities, measure program performance, and support implementation of the City's economic development priorities. The selected candidate will work to connect companies with the appropriate talent and workforce resources and will need to have a self-starter approach to job responsibilities. The ability to connect directly with the business community to address business concerns, provide information about opportunities, and structure incentive agreements is required. The position will be responsible for making presentations to various City stakeholders, boards, and City Council.
Salary: $78,224 - $125,846

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Have a valid Bachelor’s degree.
- Possess and continue to maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills in all forms.
- Must have considerable computer expertise, not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
- Have proven experience in business retention & attraction, incentive programs, workforce and development.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have a valid Master's Degree.
- Have considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of economic development, real estate, marketing, and business organizations.
- Have past B2B experience in one or more of the city’s Targeted Industries- as identified by the City’s Grow Smarter Strategy—Financial Services, Data Analytics, Specialized Manufacturing, Marine and Life Sciences, and Creative Arts and Design.
- Have considerable experience with the management, compliance, and reporting of business incentives.
- Are able to represent the city through all interactions competently.
