Job Summary:
The City of St. Peters is seeking a Planning and Engineering Intern to assist with planning, zoning, engineering and development projects. This hands-on opportunity provides experience in design, management, construction, fieldwork, mapping, and research while contributing to the City's planning and engineering efforts.
Normal Shift: Mon-Fri; Flexible start of 7:00am-7:30pm to 3:30pm-4:00pm (dependent on start time)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with field inspections of commercial and residential developments, other construction, storm water, utility installations, transportation, and other capital projects.
- Create citywide development maps for posting on the City website.
- Research potential land uses for identified sites.
- Assist with updating occupancy/vacancy records.
- Assist with field reviews of proposed and existing projects.
- Conduct field documentation, quantity measurements, and GPS mapping of constructed improvements.
- Assist with engineering file/drawing reviews, status updates, and report preparation.
- Perform detention basin inspections to ensure compliance with City standards.
- Conduct research and mapping tasks related to GIS databases.
- Investigate customer concerns related to planning, zoning and engineering projects.
- Ensure all work complies with City safety standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license in the state of Missouri.
- Ability to carry a handheld GPS unit or tablet for several hours.
