We are seeking a skilled professional to perform complex construction and maintenance work involving the operation of heavy equipment. This position requires considerable training and a strong commitment to the safe, efficient, and effective operation of specialized machinery.

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.- Performs minor preventative maintenance work and routine service and safety checks on equipment.
- Operates front end load, large grader, backhoe, dump truck, excavator and similar equipment.
- Removes and restores the base and surface of asphalt roadways, concrete sidewalks, and driveways.
- Installs piping with the assistance of ditching equipment and manual labor; assists in the installation of water, sewer, and reclaimed water utilities.
- Trains employees in the operation of equipment.
- Makes decisions on the choice of equipment to perform a project; evaluates projects to determine safety level of worksite.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Must obtain and maintain Maintenance of Traffic Level I; Trenching and Shoring Competency; Confined Space; Forklift Operator, FEMA 100, 200, & 700; and CPR and First Aid certifications within 330 days of employment:
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license Class "A" restriction 5 (no tractor/trailers acceptable) with tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.Physical Requirements:

Mathematics:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Language Ability:
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Reasoning:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
