Description

The City of St. Cloud is hiring a Maintenance Worker for our Streets & Stormwater Division!

In this role, you’ll perform semi-skilled and skilled work to help maintain our roads, drainage systems, and public spaces. Your work will make a real difference in keeping our community safe and running smoothly.

This position works Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with some stand-by hours as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Operates dump truck and flatbed truck.
  • Works with and assist heavy equipment operator.
  • Operates heavy equipment on an as needed basis.
  • Assists with installation and repair of storm water sewer lines.
  • Assists with repair, removal and installation of sidewalks and walkways.
  • Assists with forming, pouring, and finishing concrete.
  • Removes and repairs asphalt.
  • Performs regular routine maintenance and service of trucks and equipment.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School graduation or GED equivalent is preferred.

Maintenance of a valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within 150 days of employment which meets requirements outlined in the city's personal rules and regulation manual with an acceptable driving history.

The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
